OFFICIAL SOURCE REGISTRY

Know where to check again.

Official state beach-program links are discovered from EPA BEACON, checked against the current managing-agency page, stored for reuse, and reviewed quarterly. A link is not treated as proof that a beach is open or safe now.

CATALOG PROVENANCE

Where the beach list comes from.

Official government inventories are reconciled into canonical app records only when their documented reuse status permits publication. Disabled sources remain in the research registry but are not served by the app.
CATALOGNational public saltwater beach baseline

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

State, territorial and Tribal reporting is a monitoring baseline and is not guaranteed to include every local public access point.

U.S. federal public data; source attribution retained on every record.

Open official source ↗
CATALOGOfficial Florida public beach access locations and reported facilities

Florida DEP / Florida Coastal Management Program

FDEP states that locations are relative references, may not be site-specific surveys, and should be confirmed with the appropriate managing agency.

The public item requires acknowledgement of the originator; Public Beach Finder attributes FDEP and the Florida Coastal Management Program on every derived record and in the product.

CATALOGActive California public beach access locations and reported facilities

California Coastal Commission

The Commission makes no warranty of accuracy or completeness, may revise the data, and instructs visitors to follow posted safety guidance, rules, and onsite authorities.

The official YourCoast item declares the data a publicly available open data set; California's statewide conditions generally treat state-created information as public domain and permit distribution or copying as allowed by law.

CATALOGOfficial public Gulf beach access locations and reported facilities

Texas General Land Office

GLO makes no warranty of accuracy or completeness, says the data is not suitable for navigation or boundary determination, and flags some records as needing an update. Public Beach Finder preserves those warnings and imports only public-view records classified as Beach.

The Texas Open Data Portal presents GLO authoritative dataset downloads, and the GLO site policy states that it does not charge to access, use, or reproduce website information unless the Legislature specifically authorizes a fee.

CATALOGOfficial active physical public ocean shoreline access locations and coded facilities

Oregon Coastal Management Program

Oregon says geospatial products are informational and may not be suitable for legal, engineering, or surveying purposes. Public Beach Finder imports only published, active, non-private physical ocean access and excludes visual-only, non-ocean, unavailable, and exact duplicate source rows.

Oregon Geospatial Enterprise Operations states that its data is in the public domain and that Oregon GEOHub data is free to download and use. GEOHub terms expressly include creating derivative works in their definition of use and address use for commercial purposes subject to applicable law. The official OCMP page links the state shoreline-access inventory, and the public state service permits query and extraction.

CATALOGOfficial Oʻahu public sandy-shore access locations and coded facilities

Hawaiʻi Statewide GIS Program

The field survey dates to 2008 and the state calls it an approximate general reference rather than a list of every possible entry point. Public Beach Finder imports only records whose shore type includes sand and makes the source age and completeness warning visible.

The Hawaiʻi Statewide GIS download page and the official ArcGIS item state that the contents are public domain, subject to the published terms and limitations.

CATALOGOfficial Maine coastal public-access sites classified as beaches

Maine Coastal Program

Publication status: disabled-rights-review

The state says the guide is informational, still in development, and not legally binding. Local rules and the site owner or manager control. Written commercial reuse permission is required before enabling this source.

The guide supplies factual and coded fields, but its page displays an all-rights-reserved notice and the ArcGIS item does not publish an explicit commercial reuse license.

CATALOGOfficial Massachusetts public coastal-access sites classified as beaches

Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management

Massachusetts says the data is approximate, supplied as-is for planning, may not show every coastal access site, and is not a legal survey or definitive ownership record.

The ArcGIS item expressly grants permission to copy and use the materials. Public Beach Finder credits Massachusetts CZM and MassGIS and uses factual fields without copying photos or editorial descriptions.

CATALOGOfficial Connecticut coastal public-access sites classified as sandy beaches

Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection

CT DEEP warns that sites have different owners and maintainers and that site conditions may change without the agency's awareness. The layer's stated data date is June 2022.

The source item states there are no access or use limitations, and Connecticut defines open data as freely reusable and redistributable without use restrictions. Public Beach Finder retains CT DEEP attribution.

CATALOGOfficial Rhode Island saltwater-beach recreation inventory

Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management

The official layer does not publish hours, parking, lifeguard, accessibility, or dog rules. Navy Beach Club is excluded because it is restricted rather than open to the general public.

Rhode Island's copyright policy states that compiled public information may be distributed or copied with appropriate credits. Public Beach Finder credits RI DEM and uses factual fields only.

CATALOGOfficial confirmation of New Hampshire coastal and estuarine public-beach coverage

New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services

The report states that all 16 coastal and estuarine public beaches are inspected. It does not replace current NHDES advisories, posted closures, or managing-agency rules.

Public Beach Finder uses the state report only to confirm the factual count and scope and links it as provenance for the existing EPA records.

NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services

Nearest linked station may not reproduce conditions at the exact beach access point.

U.S. federal public data with NOAA attribution retained in the product.

CATALOGOfficial forecasts and active weather alerts

National Weather Service

Forecasts and alerts can change rapidly and are not beach-operation notices.

U.S. federal public data with NWS attribution retained in the product.
