01Who publishes Public Beach Finder?+
Public Beach Finder is developed, published, and operated by Peter Goodale, an individual developer. Goodale Studios is Peter Goodale’s publishing brand; it is not a separate company or legal entity.
02Which beaches are included?+
Public Beach Finder focuses on United States saltwater beaches with documented public access. The current catalog contains 8,424 published records: 8,416 rights-cleared inventory records plus eight deeply curated profiles. Detail coverage varies, and each listing distinguishes documented facts from information that has not yet been locally verified.
03Does it include every public ocean access point?+
Not yet—and no single national directory can guarantee every current access point. Federal, state, county, municipal, and park records are continuously checked, merged, corrected, and expanded. Coverage labels show what has been locally verified.
04Where does the information come from?+
Records identify a managing authority and an official or authoritative source. NOAA Tides & Currents and the National Weather Service provide supported tide, forecast, and alert information. Local rules are researched from government and managing-agency pages.
05Why can hours, parking, fees, and dog rules change?+
Municipal ordinances, seasonal schedules, wildlife protections, storms, construction, staffing, special events, and emergency closures can change access quickly. Always follow posted signs and confirm time-sensitive details with the managing authority before traveling.
06Does the app use my location?+
Only when you choose the nearest-beach feature and grant permission. Your device compares your location with downloaded beach coordinates locally. Peter Goodale does not receive your device location through that feature.
07Where are favorites and searches stored?+
Favorites, recent search text, and filter choices stay on your device. No account is required. Deleting the app removes local data from that device, subject to Apple backup and restore behavior.
08How do ratings work?+
A numeric rating is submitted with a random app-install identifier that is transformed into a one-way hash by the service. Ratings remain pending until moderation. Only approved scores contribute to the public aggregate.
09How do I report incorrect information?+
Use the correction form in the app or email support with the beach name, state, field that needs attention, and the managing agency’s current page. Corrections are reviewed against a source before the catalog changes.
10How will Public Beach Finder Pro work?+
The free app will keep essential public-access and safety information available. The planned optional Pro subscription will fund deeper verification and advanced planning features. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds will be handled by Apple.
11How do I restore or manage a purchase?+
Use Restore Purchases inside the app. Apple subscriptions can be viewed or canceled from Settings on your device under your Apple Account and Subscriptions. The app will never ask for your Apple Account password.
12How can I request deletion of a submission?+
Email support@goodalestudios.com with Public Beach Finder Privacy in the subject. Include the beach, approximate submission date, and enough non-sensitive detail to locate the submission. Because the app has no account, some anonymous submissions may not be identifiable with certainty.
13The catalog or conditions will not load. What should I try?+
Confirm your internet connection, pull to refresh, and reopen the app. Cached beach records should remain available when the service is temporarily unavailable. NOAA or NWS conditions may be unavailable independently of the catalog.
Check whether the Public Beach Finder catalog service is responding.
